JCARR NEWS – JANUARY 12, 2024

As we start this New Year, we are elated to share the news that FAMILY 3 has been granted U.S. Citizenship!

Family 9 was incredibly excited for our first snow.  Although the parents had experienced snow growing up, the children had not experienced snow before.  They were hoping for enough snow to build a snowman.  We continue to be amazed how quickly they are settling into life in New Haven.

The family went to the Main Library in New Haven this week and everyone (except the baby) got library cards.  The photo shows their delight in being able to check out books in English and in Arabic.  We hope they will return often to the library, which is in walking distance from their home.

CURRENT NEEDS The family would love a small charcoal grill and a large room rug to help keep the apartment warm.  There are other items that remain on the updated sign-up genius, please get in touch with Lina Lawall at lalawall250@gmail.com with any questions.

Many JCARR volunteers continue to help the family move quickly through the first stages of resettlement.  We are grateful for the many gift cards and items you, our JCARR friends, donated to help them along. They are very appreciative.

JCARR Families could use Gift Cards for Stop n Shop, Shop Rite, or VISA gift cards. If you purchase cards to donate, you can give them to your JCARR synagogue team leader or to our Household Task Force Leaders: Darcy Bearman at darcy4prez@hotmail.com or Carmi Kosztolitz at carmikos@gmail.com.

Please remember JCARR with your contributions: To make an online donation, go to:  https://jewishnewhaven.org/refugee-resettlement/give. Or, send checks payable to The Jewish Federation, with JCARR in the memo line, to The Jewish Federation, 360 Amity Road, Woodbridge, 06525.  Attention: Jennifer Zuppe. All donations go directly into JCARR's bank account.

Your support enables us to do what we do, help refugees access and navigate the resources that will empower them to build their lives in our community. We are deeply grateful for your support of JCARR.
