President Trump released his long-anticipated plan for Israeli-Palestinian peace. We welcome the years-long effort to create a detailed vision for the path forward.  

The fact that both major political parties in Israel support the plan says something about a broad Israeli consensus.

So, too, the striking presence at today’s announcement of ambassadors from three Arab countries — Bahrain, Oman, and United Arab Emirates – as well as encouraging statements from a few other Arab nations. Read on

Israel Policy Forum

The objective of any peace proposal for Israelis and Palestinians should be to resolve the conflict in a manner that can be accepted by both sides. Unfortunately, the Trump plan is not actually designed to do so. Rather, it serves as an annexation roadmap, whereby Israel receives U.S. support to apply sovereignty immediately to all settlements in the West Bank, pledges to freeze construction in areas designated for a future Palestinian state (despite the fact that there are no settlements in those areas currently), and is authorized to annex the entirety of the territory in four years if the Palestinians do not acquiesce to this scheme. Read on

WASHINGTON – The Jewish Democratic Council of America (JDCA)’s Executive Director Halie Soifer issued the following statement in response to the White House unveiling of its Peace to Prosperity plan for the Middle East:

“Jewish Democrats are strongly supportive of the U.S.-Israel relationship, Israel’s security, and Israel’s right to self-defense. That is why we support longstanding U.S. policy aiming to bring about a negotiated two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. In the absence of such negotiations, imposed or unilateral measures will impede prospects for peace because they will be rejected by one side. Read on

It is absolutely clear that the “plan” released today by the Trump administration stands zero chance of serving as the basis for renewed diplomacy to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Instead, it is the logical culmination of repeated bad-faith steps this administration has taken to validate the agenda of the Israeli right, prevent the achievement of a viable, negotiated two-state solution and ensure that Israel’s illegal occupation of Palestinian territory in the West Bank becomes permanent.

All parties — and especially Israeli leaders — must understand that the president’s ‘peace sham’ does not and will not represent the true interests and future policy of the United States. Read on

Since its Declaration of Independence, which made the Jewish people free again in their ancestral home, Israel has yearned for peace with its neighbors. Despite being forced to defend themselves from war and violence brought to their borders by surrounding governments and terrorist groups, Israelis have invested in peace efforts with the Palestinians and Arab states.

Egypt and Jordan chose peace with Israel after decades of war, and many other governments in the region are now increasing their ties with the Jewish state. Read on

We laud all efforts to bring peace and firmly believe that a secure Israel side by side with a viable Palestinian state is in the best interest of American foreign policy and, of course, for the future of Israel as a Jewish and democratic state.
